Aswan
to Luxor

7 days, 7 nights

This is the most immersive way to travel the Nile. Over seven days, you move entirely at the river’s pace, sailing deep into Upper Egypt with no rush and few distractions. You stop at all the temples included in shorter itineraries, ending in Luxor — home to Egypt’s greatest concentration of ancient monuments, including the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut.

Day 1 – Meet your captain in Aswan and set sail. Spend the day settling in: watch village life drift past, glide between palm-lined islands, and feel the quiet rhythm of the river.

Day 2 – Wake to sunrise on the Nile and enjoy breakfast on the roof. Sail onward before hopping into a tuk tuk to explore the Temple of Kom Ombo. Depending on timing, you may also visit the lively Daraw Camel Market, held on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Day 3 – Sail toward the dramatic sandstone cliffs of Gebel el Silsila, once a vital quarry for Egypt’s great temples. The river narrows here, creating one of Upper Egypt’s most striking stretches.

Day 4 – Continue to Edfu and explore the Temple of Horus, with its towering pylons and detailed reliefs. Return to the boat to sail on, swim, read, or simply watch the riverbanks pass.

Days 5–7: These days are devoted to the river itself. With the wind setting the pace, you sail as people have for thousands of years — quietly, steadily, close to the land. Life unfolds onboard: shared meals, early mornings, long hours under sail, and evenings moored beside the river.

As you approach Luxor, the river grows busier and the landscape richer with history. Luxor was the heart of ancient Thebes and remains the focus of its grandest monuments: Karnak and Luxor Temples on the east bank, and the royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings and Queens on the west. Arriving by river offers a rare sense of continuity — reaching the city as pilgrims, traders, and pharaohs once did.
